This weekend we decided to take a trip up to Werribee Gorge State Park. We had been planning to go for a while but never got around to it and for some reason we decided to go the weekend of the rainiest week in the state!! But luckily for us it was a stunning day and we were able to admire the amazing views!
Werribee Gorge is about 8km west of Bacchus Marsh and just off the Western Freeway. It should normally take just over an hour from Northcote but it took us a little bit longer as we weren't really paying attention to the GPS and had to do about half a dozen U-turns (oops) haha. We finally got there and we weren't too sure where to go, but we learnt that there are multiple car parks along the road and different routes that come off them.
We started at the Quarry Picnic area and had a quick look at the info shelter to get a better idea of where we were going and what we could expect. We decided on the short circuit walk today (as I've been sick and still in recovery mode, so I shouldn't do anything too strenuous) but it did mean that we missed out on a lot of the gorge itself but the views and the tracks were still so beautiful. It only took us a little over an hour to complete the track with little pit stops along the way. It's such a great little walk and it's just so nice to get outside and enjoy the sunshine! Next time we will be doing the longer circuit for sure!!
Definitely a place worth seeing and exploring!
